This dataset of taxable square footage per property is used to calculate special assessments approved by Berkeley voters in ballot measures. Alameda County’s property tax bills include taxes, fixed charges, and special assessments from many agencies, including the City of Berkeley. Most voter-approved City of Berkeley special assessments and taxes are based on taxable square footage, not assessed value.
