This dataset has the following 34 columns:

Column NameAPI Column NameData TypeDescription
ENERGY STAR Unique IDpd_idnumberThe ENERGY STAR Unique ID (ESUID) is a string of seven numbers EPA assigns to an ENERGY STAR model or set of models with unique performance characteristics. This ESUID is unique to both the model and product specification version and is assigned by EPA upon receipt of certification information from the certification body. Each row within the product list will have a unique ESUID. Developers may wish to use this ESUID to track information on certified models in their information systems.
ENERGY STAR Partnerenergy_star_partnertextAn organization that signed a Partnership Agreement with EPA to manufacture or private label ENERGY STAR qualified products.
Brand Namebrand_nametextAn identifier assigned by the manufacturer or private labeler to a product or family/series of products for sales and marketing purposes.
Model Namemodel_nametextAn identifier assigned by the manufacturer or private labeler to a product or family/series of products for sales and marketing purposes.
Model Numbermodel_numbertextA distinguishing, alphanumeric identifier, assigned to a product by the manufacturer or private labeler. The model number may include a wildcard that can be replaced by any letter or digit and still accurately capture what is covered by the model’s ENERGY STAR certification; an asterisk symbol (*) represents a letter, and a number symbol (#) a digit.
Additional Model Informationadditional_model_informationtextAn identifier assigned by the manufacturer or private labeler to a product or family/series of products for sales and marketing purposes. This column includes alternative means to identify the model/model family (e.g., additional model names, additional model numbers, retailer SKUs, product descriptions).
UPCupctextUPC codes provided by partners for ENERGY STAR certified products. The brand, model name and model number continue to serve as the identifiers used to establish certification. The UPC code data below is intended to aid in identification of ENERGY STAR models. UPC code data is not provided for all certified models.
Product Typelab_grade_refrigerators_and_freezers_product_typetextThe product type of the product as defined in the specification.
Product Form Factorproduct_form_factortextThe orientation of the product, either upright or chest.
Number of glass doorsnumber_of_glass_doorsnumberThe number of doors the product contains in which 75% or greater of the front surface of the door is glass.
Number of solid doorsnumber_of_solid_doorsnumberThe number of doors the product contains in which less than 75% of the front surface of the door is glass.
Total Number of Doorstotal_number_of_doorsnumberThe total number of doors the product contains.
Door Opening Orientationdoor_opening_orientationtextThe direction and type of door opening of the product.
Number of Internal Ports and/or Access Holesnumber_of_internal_ports_and_or_access_holesnumberThe number of internal ports and/or access holes present in the product.
Number of Drawers or Shelvesnumber_of_drawers_or_shelvesnumberThe number of drawers or shelves present in the product.
Defrost Typedefrost_typetextThe defrost type employed by the product.
Refrigerant Typerefrigerant_typetextThe refrigerant type used in the product.
Refrigerant with GWPrefrigerant_with_gwptextRefrigerants are substances that cool or heat and are often used in refrigeration and HVAC equipment. Many refrigerants are harmful atmospheric pollutants that have a high global warming potential (GWP). Lower-GWP alternative refrigerant options for lab grade refrigerators and freezers include R-744 (CO₂), R-290, and R-170.
Refrigerant Type Otherrefrigerant_type_othertext
Total Volume (cubic feet)total_volume_cubic_feetnumberThe total interior volume of the product.
Average Test Cabinet (ºC)average_test_cabinet_temperature_ocnumberThe average of the cabinet temperature measured during the 24-hour test period.
Peak Temperature Variance (ºC)peak_temperature_variance_cnumberPeak temperature variance measured across all temperature measurement devices.
Lab Grade Refrigerator or Freezer Energy Consumption (kWh/day)daily_energy_consumptionnumberThe total energy consumption measured during the 24-hour test period.
Ultra-Low Temperature Freezer Energy Consumption (kWh/day/cu-ft)calculated_daily_energy_consumption_kwh_day_cu_ftnumberThe daily energy consumption of the product normalized for volume for ULT products.
Steady State Energy Consumption (kWh/day)steady_state_energy_consumption_kwh_daynumberThe total energy consumption measured during the steady state portion of the test period, which starts one hour after the final door opening occurs.
Maximum Daily Energy Allowance (kWh/day)maximum_daily_energy_consumption_mdec_requirements_kw_hrs_daynumberThe maximum daily energy allowance of the product.

Date Certifieddate_qualifiedcalendar_dateThe date on which the product was confirmed to meet the ENERGY STAR specification.
MarketsmarketstextIncludes products sold in the U.S. and/or Canada and other ENERGY STAR partner countries.
ENERGY STAR Model Identifierenergy_star_model_identifiertextA unique string of characters assigned by certification bodies (CBs) to identify a model or set of models with the same performance characteristics. This identifier should remain the same for a model even if it is recertified to a new version of an ENERGY STAR specification. This string of characters is determined by CBs and is not the ENERGY STAR Unique ID assigned by EPA.
