Annotation | annotation | text | This webinar is part of a four-part series that covers a wide range of topics designed to help communities rebuild and recover after a disaster. It is useful for clergy and lay leaders in disaster-affected communities, the staff of organizations who may provide disaster case management, people concerned about those affected by recent disasters, and anyone planning to mitigate the hazards in their community before a disaster strikes. This module is one of nine modules that have been prepared by INTERWORKS for theInternational Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Disaster Preparednessoffice in Geneva. This module can be used as for independent study, as a reference guideon the subject, and to provide participants at a workshop training event on this topic. It isintended to accompany the trainer's notes on this topic. Their intended use is global, andthey are written for generalists, planners and professionals with disaster preparednessand/or emergency response responsibilities both within the Federation and in the NationalSocieties. Non-governmental organisations interested in disaster preparedness andpreparedness planning, government emergency commissions, local disaster committees andcivil defence training units may also find these modules useful. Inventory allows local public health officials to assess their agencies ability to respond to a public health threat or emergency. This Congressional testimony summarizes GAO report 01-915, which reviewed federal department and agencies preparedness activities. It found coordination between departments and agencies was fragmented, but there had been efforts to improve (interagency work groups). It also found concern on federal level about the preparedness of state and local agencies and the inadequacies in the public health infrastructure. This fact sheet provides information for those workers placing and anchoring snare boom (also called pompom) in the water from boats following an oil spill. It describes the dangers associated with this task, necessary worker training, and best work practices, as well as employee obligations to ensure worker health and safety. view top 100 |
