Fort Collins Floodwarning Stream Gage Stage & Flow Data

opendata.fcgov.com | Last Updated 31 May 2024

Automated readings from the city-wide flood warning system, which is made up in part of stream-flow gages throughout the city. While these data specify flow rates at each gage, extreme care should be taken if using these measurements as flow data; the sensors are not placed ideally for accurate flow measurements and they are not monitored closely enough for this purpose. This is the raw sensor data and analysis would be needed to use for anything but flood monitoring. The real-time map of these values is located at https://gisweb.fcgov.com/HTML5Viewer/Index.html?viewer=Flood%20Warning

This dataset has the following 9 columns:

Column NameAPI Column NameData TypeDescriptionSample Values
Sensor Namesensor_nametext
Latitudelatitudenumber
Longitudelongitudenumber
Timestamptimestampcalendar_dateTimestamp recorded at the sensor for data after 2015; timestamps were recorded at the server prior to that. Duplicate timestamps may exist due to data transfer issues.
Stage (ft)stage_ftnumberUnits: feet.
Flow (cfs)flow_cfsnumberUnits: cubic feet per second. The measured flowrate at the sensor. Incorrect data could be due to clogs, freezing, non-functioning sensors, or other issues.
meta_row_indexmeta_row_indexnumberMetadata field for a suggested sort order. Sort this column in ascending order to order the dataset the way it was intended from the source system.
meta_row_idmeta_row_idtextMetadata field for record hash. This field is a SHA-1 hash of all other fields in the record, used for validation of record uniqueness.
