Incoming emergency calls are dispatched to first response units including police, fire and emergency medical services (EMS). Priority 1 calls are those for an incident where the immediate presence of a responder is essential to save life, prevent serious injury, or to arrest a violent felon. This includes many police calls and nearly all fire and EMS calls.

Average rates of spending are adjusted for regional differences in prices and for the age, sex and race of the underlying Medicare population.

The program area is Home Delivered Meals. The Home Delivered Meal program provides nutritious meals to home bound seniors who are unable to care adequately for themselves. The program is designed to assist seniors in meeting their nutritional needs. This indicator is directly aligned with the department's business function to improve the quality of life for older adults and the county's self-sufficiency objective for fewer senior residents to experience hunger. The Department categorizes Home Delivered Meals as an intervention program that helps seniors age in place. Meals are delivered according to a set schedule. All meals are nutritionally balanced and meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans published by the Secretaries of Health and Human Services and Agriculture and the RDA's established by the Food and Nutrition Board, Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Senior participants have a choice of at least two entrees and dietary supplements such as Ensure or Glucerna, if required. Participants also receive shelf-stable meals 2-3 times per year. Shelf-stable meals contain foods that do not require refrigeration and can be consumed at room temperature.

Coverage may be provided by either private health insurance or public programs. Private health insurance is a plan provided through an employer or union, a plan purchased by an individual from a private company. Public programs providing coverage include the federal programs Medicare, Medicaid, and VA Health Care; the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP); and individual state health plans.

Prenatal visits to a doctor generally include a physical exam and weight checks. Depending on the stage of the pregnancy, it may also include blood tests and imaging tests, such as ultrasound exams. Visits may also include discussions about the mother's health, the infant's health, and any questions about the pregnancy.
