This measure currently applies only to the sanitary sewer system operated by Fulton County and does not include the City of Atlanta sewer system. A sanitary sewer overflow is a condition in which untreated sewage is released into the environment. Most overflows in the Fulton County system in recent years have been caused by blockages from debris or grease with roots often being a contributing or primary factor. Other causes have included physical failure of the sewer line and mechanical failure of pumps.

Information provided on each case includes the case number, case type (e.g., non-complex felony, capital felony), the date filed, the date assigned, the judge assigned, the current status (e.g. open, closed), and flags indicating whether the defendant is in jail and whether the assignment is current (or the last assignment in the case of closed cases).

For the current month, there is one data point representative of the number of defendants in jail as of today. For previous months, the data point is the last day of the month, and shows how many defendants were in jail on that day.
