Land area is a measurement providing the size, in square miles, of the land portions of geographic entities for which the Census Bureau tabulates and disseminates data. Area is calculated from the specific boundary recorded for each entity in the Census Bureau's geographic database. Land area is based on current information in the TIGER® data base, calculated for use with Census 2010.
Water Area figures include inland, coastal, Great Lakes, and territorial sea water. Inland water consists of any lake, reservoir, pond, or similar body of water that is recorded in the Census Bureau's geographic database. It also includes any river, creek, canal, stream, or similar feature that is recorded in that database as a two- dimensional feature (rather than as a single line). The portions of the oceans and related large embayments (such as Chesapeake Bay and Puget Sound), the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea that belong to the United States and its territories are classified as coastal and territorial waters; the Great Lakes are treated as a separate water entity. Rivers and bays that empty into these bodies of water are treated as inland water from the point beyond which they are narrower than 1 nautical mile across. The weekly samples are collected and analyzed for Total Coliform, E. coli, and Enterococcus bacteria. Advisories are posted at a beach when a recreational standard for these indicator organism is exceeded. Weekly results are published each year starting in April and continuing through October. Sample results in this dataset start with the week of May 29, 2017. If a sample result is labeled "N/A" it means that no results are available from the beach location that week.

County Sheriff Reported Crimes
data.marincounty.org | Last Updated 2024-07-12T23:20:30.000ZReported crimes of the Marin County Sheriff's Department. Data is updated every four hours. Data begins as of January 1, 2013. Each reported crime includes its date/time, approximate location, crime type, and crime classification. NOTE: For the safety and security of victims of crimes, street address locations, other than reported street intersections or highway locations, are not exact. They are adjusted to the nearest block level. There are two columns of city/town information. The first is the reported city/town name in the crime records. The second, which is not in the crime records, is a translation of it into the more commonly known city/town name, or into Marin County when it appears to be in an unincorporated area. For example, Almonte and Tam Valley are reported city/town names, but they are both in the more commonly known city of Mill Valley. Lucas Valley translates to San Rafael, etc. We hope that the translated city/town column will facilitate analysis.

A written report is provided to each homeowner. The program is administered by the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE). It is funded by various entities including Marin County and MMWD. Data is updated quarterly and begins in 2008.

More complex permits that involve permit inspections, and often involve building plans that must be approved, have a received date, an issued date and often a plan approval date. The received date is the date a permit application is received. The issued date is the date the permit has been fully approved and issued, and may be many weeks or months after the received date. Data is updated every three to six months. Data includes time stamps of events for each dispatch, nature of injury, and location of injury. Data also includes geocoding of most incident locations, however, specific street address locations are "obfuscated" and are generally shown within a block and are not, therefore, exact locations. Geocoding results are also based on the quality of the address information provided, and should therefore not be considered 100% accurate. Some of the data may be interpreted incorrectly without adequate knowledge of the clinical context. Next Generation Simulation (NGSIM) Vehicle Trajectories and Supporting Data

Researchers for the Next Generation Simulation (NGSIM) program collected detailed vehicle trajectory data on southbound US 101 and Lankershim Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA, eastbound I-80 in Emeryville, CA and Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. Data was collected through a network of synchronized digital video cameras. NGVIDEO, a customized software application developed for the NGSIM program, transcribed the vehicle trajectory data from the video. This vehicle trajectory data provided the precise location of each vehicle within the study area every one-tenth of a second, resulting in detailed lane positions and locations relative to other vehicles.
